Blog Crush: Columbine Smille

I saw pics of swedish blogger, Columbine Smille, on Knightcat & Wildfox and just had to check out her blog. She is an assistant fashion stylist and her style is undoubtedly impeccable. She ticks all my boxes - on-trend, original, a little eccentric and effortlessly chic. Her wardrobe is amazing - lots of denim, basic t-shits, tailored pieces, fantastic sandals & boots and chic dresses, with the perfect amount of colour (wine & pinks seem to be her favs).  I just wish there was an English translation of her blog so I could actually understand what this amazing fashionista is writing! Nevertheless, her pics are filled with loads of fashion inspiration. Here are some of my fav looks of hers:

Red heels

Love the grey and that leather jacket is the most amazing shade of grey/olive/brown

So chic!

Perfect summer look - loving the magenta!

Love the olive jersey skirt & espadrille boots

Gorgeous velvet heels glam up an otherwise casual look

Summer evening outfit perfection :)

Love it!

Ksubi Spring/Summer 2010

Ksubi Spring/Summer 2010 at Rosemount Fashion Week

I've never really been a fan of Ksubi until this collection. Maybe because I'm not a big jeans fan as I feel more comfortable in tights or pants. However, I do own a fabulous pair of   Ksubi lycra tights with industrial zippers down the back of the leg, which have become a wardrobe favourite of mine. They are so Lady Gaga....in a good way of course. Perhaps, this show caught my attention because Bambi was one of the models strutting down the runway. She is definitely one of my fav Aussie models at the moment. This collection is exactly the sort of thing I'm into at the moment, which I would describe as "tough glamour". I'm very much a fan of monochrome, bodysuits and black suede ankle wedge boots (I can't stop wearing mine!) As for jeans, I haven't worn white jeans in years, but I think they may the perfect staple piece this summer. Love the straight hair, black eyes and nude lips too - a look you can't go wrong with for a night out.

Feeling Blue

Model: Anja Rubik
Photographer: Camilla Akrans
Numero #113 May 2010

Blue eye shadow making a comeback with the denim craze at the moment? Maybe. Blue eye shadow reminds me of when I first started to experiment with makeup in about year 6 and I don't believe I've worn it since then. Not sure if I'm game enough to give it ago again yet, but I think it looks fabulous on Anja in this shoot!

Erin Wasson

All from  Studded Hearts

What words could be used to describe Erin Wasson's style? Perhaps "Refined Grunge" are appropriate. Her style reminds me much of Kate Moss's style in that she doesn't seem to follow trends  but still looks incredibly on trend. I love the military vest and fur coat. The military style seems to have become a classic over the last few years - Military boots, vests, coats and jackets. I suppose it's like Manstyle trousers and shirts - Always considered sexy on a woman year after year. The denim shorts looked refined with the black pumps and elegant white blouse, as does the LBD. I think the beauty of Erin's wardrobe choices are that the pieces are very much "Girl-next-door" pieces, rather than screaming designer-designer. Same goes for her hair and makeup that give that "I did it myself" look.

The Denim Jacket

Natasha Poly in Vogue Paris June/July 2008
modelcouture via All For Fashion

Up until recently I hadn't worn a denim jacket since I was a little kid. I found a great-fitting one in Newtown (strip-shop district in Sydney's inner west) and have worn it a few times with my S&B Black Rats (I am a massive fan) or over a dress (both mini & maxi). I would never wear a denim jacket with jeans - that's just too much denim! I think its good to keep it down to one denim item at a time in order for it to remain fashion forward and edgy.
