Dishevelled Rupert Grint looks worlds away from Ron Weasley as he watches Wimbledon

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Dishevelled: Rupert Grint looked scruffy as he sat and watched the action at Wimbledon

As Ron Weasley in Harry Potter, Rupert Grint is the clean-cut, slightly naive teenager who haplessly tried to make his way in the magical world.

But yesterday Grint couldn't have looked further apart from his on-screen character as he arrived at Wimbledon to watch Andy Murray take to the court.

The 22-year-old actor looked incredibly dishevelled, with his red hair messy and huge bags under his red-rimmed eyes.

Grint also tried to hide from photographers at one point by donning a pair f sunglasses, which appeared to be ladies' eyewear.

The Harry Potter star also hadn't shaved for the occasion, sporting a sprouting of ginger hair on his chin and upper lips along with a smattering of spots.

Grint arrived for his day at Wimbledon wearing a maroon and black blazer with a trendy thin tie and a pair of black trousers.

Screen star: Rupert's scruffy appearance was worlds away from Ron Weasley in Harry Potter

After watching Andy Roddick of the United States take on Feliciano Lopez of Spain, Grint stayed for the match between Andy Murray and Ivan Ljubicic.

And despite the game not finishing until well into the evening, Grint remained for the entire time - seeming to enjoy himself as he watched the tense match.

Grint can soon be seen reprising his role as Ron Weasley for the final time in the last Harry Potter movie; Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II.

Having fun: Rupert appeared to be enjoying himself at points, but at other times hid behind a pair of ladies' sunglasses

Famous friends: Rupert sitting with All England Lawn Tennis Club Chairman Philip Brook

In a recent interview, Grint, who has grown up on the Harry Potter set, admitted saying goodbye is going to be a huge wrench.

He explained: 'Harry Potter was such a massive part of my life. It really has been my life. I can’t really remember a life before it. For that to just all come down to just like, one day, and like one thing, just seems really strange.

'The last day as emotional. There was a real sadness about it and quite an empty feeling. So, I remember packing up my room, boxing everything up and I had like, toys from when I was 10. It was weird.'

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II hits UK cinemas on July 15th.

Giggles all round: Rupert laughs as he tried on a Wimbledon headband

Enjoying themselves: Rupert was with fellow Harry Potter star Oliver Phelps, who plays his on-screen brother George in the films

I never really got bullied for my red hair,’ the 22-year-old said. ‘I knew some kids who really struggled with it. It’s ridiculous. There’s such a big stigma about ginger hair.

'People think you’re geeky or this or that. I’ve never thought about dyeing it. It’s just part of who I am.’

Back to blonde for Lady Gaga as she ditches the green wig at charity concert in Japan

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

Back to blonde: Lady Gaga ditched the green wig she has been sporting for the last few weeks in favour of her trademark platinum blonde lock as she performed in Japan

She's worn all different colours and shades in her hair since hitting the big time, but Lady Gaga knows deep down that blondes definitely have more fun.

Having sported an aquamarine wig for the past few weeks, the singer decided to go back to her trademark platinum blonde look.

The Born This Way singer came on stage at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan at the Makuhari Messe Arena near Tokyo tonight.

Spiderwoman: Gaga, sporting green hair extensions as bunches, started her set trapped in what looked like a giant web...

Her hair had been braided and put into two buns on her head, her fringe cut short on her forehead.

She started the gig with aquamarine hair extensions on her bunches as she opened her set trapped in what looked like a giant spider web.

Dressed in a sparkly sequinned bra and long skirt with a split up each thigh, Gaga launched into her song The Edge of Glory as she pulled and tugged at the web.

... before breaking free and leaving her aquamarine strands behind

As she broke free, she ripped off the green extensions and joined her dancers as she finished the song.

Then, almost sneaking round the stage, she climbed some stairs and stood at her piano, which was made up to look like a giant spider, and launched into an acoustic version of Born This Way before rejoining her dancers for the full dance version of the hit song.

It was good to see Gaga back to blonde again even if her hair suffers as a result.

Where'd you get those peepers? Gaga takes off her sunglasses as she leaves the MTV concert to show off eye make-up that looks like eyes

After her performance, Gaga spoke to the press on the red carpet in an odd ensemble that made her look like a pearly queen.

She also showed off eye make up that looked like dark eyes as she posed for pictures and waved to fans.

Earlier, Gaga had rejoiced when she heard the news that her home state of New York passed a law making gay marriage legal.

She took to her Twitter page and wrote: 'I can't stop crying. We did it kids.

Rejoice New York, and propose. We did it!' the star added in a further tweet. 'The revolution is ours to fight for love, justice + equality.'

Violence breaks out as protesters seek to shame Bono over failure to pay tax in Ireland as he headlines Glastonbury

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Clash: Security staff and members of direct action group Art Uncut tussle over a 20ft balloon during last night's performance

Violent scenes broke out in the crowd at U2's long-awaited Glastonbury debut last night as a protest against the Irish band's tax status was foiled by security guards.

As Bono and his bandmates took to the Pyramid Stage, activists from direct action group Art Uncut inflated a 20ft balloon emblazoned with the message 'U Pay Your Tax 2'.

But as the campaigners tried to release the balloon over the 50,000-strong crowd, a team of ten security guards wrestled them to the ground before deflating the balloon and taking it away.

The intervention by security after U2's opening song Until The End Of The World sparked angry clashes with 30 or more protesters.

One security guard told a photographer to 'go away', adding: 'If you are press, I'll have you.'

Several protesters were pinned against a fence near the Pyramid Stage after attempting to hold on to the balloon. There were no arrests.

Facing the music: U2 frontman Bono sang through the protest

One of the campaign group members said: 'That was totally over the top. He threatened to hit me.'

Another said: 'Political activism used to belong at Glastonbury. This was all going to be completely peaceful.'

A handful of U2 fans looked on open-mouthed and booed as the security guards swooped.
Gary Noble, 45, from Eastbourne, said: 'It was all a bit shocking. I love U2 but I think everyone should pay their taxes. The campaigners have a right to voice their opinion.'

U2 rattled on through their set of smash hits, with the only inconvenience for Bono being the rain fogging up his trademark sunglasses.

Getting the message across: The 20ft balloon created by protest group Art Uncut

Art Uncut had been hoping to spark debate around big-earning stars' duty to pay taxes in their native country.

Campaigner Charlie Dewar said: 'U2's multi million-euro tax dodge is depriving the Irish people at a time when they desperately need income to offset the Irish government's savage austerity programme.

Pop music: The giant balloon eventually burst after being seized by security officials

'Tax nestling in the band's bank account should be helping to keep open the hospitals, schools and libraries that are closing all over Ireland.

'Bono is well-known for his anti-poverty campaigning but Art Uncut is accusing him of hypocrisy.'

The opening night of major acts, which saw revellers drenched in rain for the third day running, proved to be one of political activism.

Morrissey had drawn cheers from the audience after calling Prime Minister David Cameron a 'silly twit' for opposing an outright ban on wild animals in circuses.

Rocking and rolling: The security team eventually managed to take the balloon away

Introducing the classic Smiths song Meat Is Murder, he hailed MPs' support this week for a prohibition.

The singer condemned Mr Cameron over claims he tried to bully one MP into dropping the plans, saying: 'What a silly twit.'

Radiohead were unveiled as last night's secret act on the Park stage, with frontman Thom Yorke telling fans: 'We're here to get in free.'

He added: 'We asked Emily Eavis if we could get in free and she said, 'Will you play?
'We like it here as much as you do.'

Close to The Edge: The protesters attempt to lift the balloon near the stage where U2 were performing

Uplifting: One protester lunges at a security guard while spectators look on

The relentless rain has seen Worthy Farm become Britain's biggest mudbath - but the weather will dry up tomorrow, forecasters said.

Among the 170,000-strong crowd on the 900-acre site were Wayne and Coleen Rooney.

The footballer and his wife sparked a media frenzy as they joined the party.

Despite the rain and dark clouds, Rooney wore dark glasses as the couple walked arm in arm wearing matching Hunter boots.

The show must go on: While U2 managed to complete their performance, the band's fans were shocked at the way the protest was put down

Rooney, who had his hood up after recently having a hair transplant, was seemingly in good spirits after returning from a break in Barbados to travel to Somerset.

The 25-year-olds were believed have shunned a tent in favour of VIP treatment in a top-of-the range motorhome.

Moroccan act Master Musicians of Jouhouka and rapper Chipmunk got proceedings under way.

But the showers came back with a vengeance when the likes of rappers Wu-Tang Clan came on stage in the afternoon.

Marc Argent, 32, from Street, Somerset, was one of hundreds gathered around the Pyramid to perform a welly stomp dance in the quagmire.

He said: 'It's great to see it all under way. It's muddy but it is still magical.'

Forecasters say that today and tomorrow should be largely dry, with temperatures possibly topping 25C (77F).

Coldplay and Beyonce are the remaining headliners.

Columbo star Peter Falk leaves bulk of multi million dollar estate to his devoted wife Shera

By MAIL FOREIGN SERVICE and DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Beloved: Peter Falk, pictured with Shera back in 2005, has left the bulk of his $5 million estate to her

Columbo star Peter Falk has left the bulk of his multi million dollar estate to his beloved wife of 33 years, Shera.

The star, who passed away at his home in Beverly Hills on Thursday night, set up a trust fund years before he was formally diagnosed with Alzheimers disease, according to Radar.

The estate is said to be worth around $5 million dollars.

Estranged: Peter and his adopted daughter Catherine together at a New York event back in 2002

'Peter left the bulk of his estate to Shera,' a source told the showbiz website. 'The house that the two of them lived in together, art work, investment accounts, and more have been left to Shera.

It is being reported that Peter also left an estimated six figure inheritance to his two adopted daughters from his first marriage, Catherine and Jackie.

Radar Online goes on to report that the actor had been estranged from Catherine for some time, and suspected that she would challenge the will - so a clause is present to ensure she loses all of her inheritance, if she in any way contests his instructions.

'Peter's daughter Catherine had a very strained relationship with her stepmother, Shera for years, and tried to get conservatorship of Peter several years ago,' the source adds.

Peter Falk starred as Columbo from 1973 up until 2003 - with the show heralded as one of the greatest detective dramas of all time

'The judge flatly denied that request because Shera proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was providing excellent care of her husband at home.'

The website reports that Catherine was allowed to see her father once a month at a neutral location, and adds that the actor had a good relationship with his other adopted daughter Jackie.

Following treatment at a Southern California hospital for several weeks, Shera brought Peter home for his final few days.

'He died very peacefully with his wife by his side,' the source tells Radar.'

The actor had been ill for some time, battling against dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Battle over: Prior to his death, Falk had been battling with dementia and Alzheimer's

Despite a long and varied career, Falk gained fame for his portrayal of the glass-eyed, dishevelled but crafty Los Angeles Lieutenant.

Columbo always wore a grubby rain mac and smoked cigars, and usually made a false exit before uttering his catchphrase: ‘Just one more thing.’

His portrayal of the cop spawned numerous impressions.

The original series ran for seven years from 1971, but was constantly re-commissioned throughout the 1980s and 1990s due to its popularity.

Big screen: Falk starred in the 2001 film Corky Romano portraying a Mafia boss

Villains no matter how evil were always addressed as 'ma'am,' or 'sir' as the deceptively bumbling detective distracted their smooth patter midway by plucking a boiled egg from his pocket, or delivering that famous line after exiting a room.

Levinson and Link said that Falk wore the same suit, tie, and shoes for the entire run of the series.

Falk himself picked out the Peugeot car that Columbo rattled around L.A. in; its tan color matched his character’s coat.

It was even said that film director Federico Fellini would leave dinner parties to go watch the latest episode of Columbo, such was the impact of Falk's performance.
He was also an accomplished artist.

A New Yorker, Falk did not turn to acting until the age of 30. He was initially told not to turn to acting because of his glass eye.

Man of many talents: Falk, wearing a German police officer uniform on the TV show 'Wetten, dass...?' (Bet, That...) in Germany is survived by his wife Shera and daughter Catherine

Falk lost an eye at the age of three because of a malignant tumour.

The disability also saw him rejected from the armed services but undeterred Falk joined the United States Merchant Marine, and served as a cook and mess boy.

He recalled in his autobiography, Just One More Thing: 'There they don't care if you're blind or not, the only one on a ship who has to see is the captain. And in the case of the Titanic, he couldn't see very well, either.'

He served as a Marine in the years after World war Two before unsuccessfully applied to work for the CIA.

It was only after being rejected by the agency that he turned to acting.

Star: Falk alongside legendary British actor Peter Sellers, left, in the film 'Murder by Death'

Falk was married twice.

In 1960 he wed his fellow Syracuse University student Alyce Mayo.

They adopted two daughters but divorced in 1976.

A year later Falk married Shera Danese, who regularly appeared on Columbo, the actress, who survives him was 21 years his junior and in typical fashion he joked about the age difference.

When asked in the 70s what they had in common, he replied: 'I think it's safe to say that we both like the colour blue.'

Popularity: Falk presenting a Golden Camera Award in Berlin back in 2004
The acting world also paid tributes to Falk today.

John Favreau, who co-starred with Falk in Favreau’s directorial debut, 2001′s Made said: 'He was a pioneer of independent film and redefined what you could do on television.

'He brought tremendous truth and honesty to his performances. I was blessed to have worked with him.'

Alec Baldwin tweeted: 'Peter Falk in Cassavetes' HUSBANDS. Flights of Angels ...'
