Five Most Dropped Players: January 13-19
- DeShawn Stevenson (7.1 points, 1.7 three-pointers): Fantasy owners jumped all over Stevenson when he heated up following Caron Butler's injury. Unfortunately for those who scooped him up, DeShawn cooled off quickly and was recently removed for the starting line up. Previously, we considered him only an option in deeper leagues but now he may not be worth a roster spot in any format. He just doesn't do much else besides hitting three-pointers to be worth fantasy consideration.
- James Harden (10.6 points, 1.3 three-pointers, 1.2 steals, 84.6% FT%): Much like Stevenson, Harden was a hot add when he was on a double-digit scoring streak. Now that he's failed to hit double figures in five straight games, fantasy owners are sending him back to the waiver wire. Harden is still rated within our top 100 because of his great free throw shooting and his ability to get steals. If you need help in those categories, we still recommend him even while his scoring has cooled a bit. Harden is available in about three-quarters of leagues.
- Glen Davis (12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1 steal): We're not quite sure why fantasy owners have decided to dump "Big Baby." We're assuming it was the recent return of Kevin Garnett to the line up. Even with KG back, Davis will continue to do what he's been doing all season: score, grab a few rebounds, and play around 30 minutes a night. We still consider him a viable fantasy option in standard formats, but he could take a big hit to his value when Kendrick Perkins returns in February.
- Richard Jefferson (12.7 points, 1.8 three-pointers, 4.3 rebounds): Jefferson's play has been inconsistent over the last couple of weeks. Still, he's on a good team getting ample playing time. If an owner has decided to drop him in your league, scoop him up. He's done more than enough all season to be owned in leagues of all sizes. Jefferson is available in about a third of leagues.
- Brandon Roy (16.6 points, 1.1 three-pointers, 1.1 steals, 87.3% FT%): The recent news that Roy would undergo surgery on his knees caused many Roy owners to lose any hope that he'd return this season. While it is looking unlikely that Roy does indeed return, we recommend that fantasy owners in head-to-head formats pick him up if he's available as long as you have a deep enough squad that can handle holding on to an injured player long term. If Roy plays again this season, it would likely be just in time for the fantasy playoffs. He could be a huge boost to a team looking to win a championship this year. It is a risky move, but all it costs you is the worst player on your team. Roy has been dropped in about half of leagues.
